Both my mother, Shirley, and my stepmother, Joan, were amazing cooks. This page is dedicated to their memories and to the sustenance they both gave me as a young teenage girl by teaching me how to cook. As I get older, I find myself practicing Shirley’s late in life cooking avoidance techniques. She would have loved Trader Joe’s as I do now when work keeps me from planning meals and shopping for them.
